Mitigating common delays for mobile base station infrastructure deployment projects

The process of site acquisition for installing radio equipment is a complicated one, typically involving multiple parties and stakeholders and often running into problems and disputes. Site acquisition delays hence result in significant losses to the operators and related parties due to a disruption in their infrastructure expansion plans. To better develop better strategies such that these delays can be avoided, the client required comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of the site acquisition process.

The client, a leading global supplier of telecommunication network infrastructure to major mobile telephony operators, approached Synovate identify the site acquisition bottlenecks in four countries (Mexico, Pakistan, India, and China) and suggest measures to mitigating the delays in mobile base station infrastructure deployment. Synovate utilized a three-pronged approach, gathering intelligence from in-depth executive interviews to design quantitative surveys and qualitative focus groups in order to obtain granular results. Comparative analysis was then conducted between the four countries to identify similar key issues and patterns relating to acquisition delays.

Synovate successfully designed media communication channels and collateral for the client to use in order to mitigate the occurrence of future crisis escalations, including a map of key media forms, channels, effective media personalities and messages to target audience segments.
