The fundraising arm of a supra-governmental organization first approached Synovate Business Consulting to advise on optimising its presence in Malaysia in 2003, which was a market transitioning from a developing into a developed country status.
Synovate applied its modeling expertise to size the potential of the giving market, investigated the donation 'value chain' to recommend relevant collection infrastructure investments, reviewed 'competitive forces' from other non-profit agencies, and analysed the regulatory environment to support the client's full market entry.
As a result of our intervention, Synovate was subsequently invited to consult to the client on other key markets such as China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Our advice on the Indian market, for instance, helped the organisation launch a successful fundraising programme that raised an unprecedented US$ 1 million that same year.
