Job description
Manage the implementation, operation, and support of the workbench systems platform for Synovate. The workbench systems platform consists of many components including but not limited to SPSS software for market research (all components), Microsoft technologies such as IIS, .NET, MS SQL, SharePoint, and other related systems and utilities.
Performs a combination of the following duties according to departmental guidelines:
- Works with both technical, consulting, and business people to understand and correct application issues
- Develop and maintain a repository of configurations, solutions, and templates, which enable rapid building, integration and installation of customer specific solutions
- Install, configures, and tests Enterprise class software solutions from SPSS
- Implements, maintains, and responds to alerts and notification of systems issues affecting operations
- Supports web, application, and database systems to ensure nominal operation of the applications
- Solves problems, identifies dependencies, and collaborates with infrastructure support teams for resolution
- Test and Audit operation of customer systems after upgrades or system modifications
- Defines and documents support processes and procedures for local and global resources
- Performs stress testing and baseline analysis to determine survey software capacity capabilities
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Synovate customer support methods and practices
- Provide peer training as required
- Performs other essential duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field, or in experience
- Requires a minimum of four to five years of database experience
- Requires a minimum of four to five years application support and deployment experience
- Market research domain knowledge (preferred)
- A team player with a "can do" attitude when handling complex situations
- Customer solution focused and methodical, careful attention to detail, yet skilled in multi-tasking within a fast paced diverse role
- Strong customer service orientation, enjoy and take seriously the role of customer advocate
- Creative idea generator, ability to connect previously unrelated notions together to identify relationships and patterns
- Capable problem solver that follows rigorous logic to bring effective solutions to complex customer problems including technical, behavioral and relationship dimensions
- General knowledge of application installation and configuration
- Strong understanding, working knowledge of IIS administration and configuration
- Strong Windows administration skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server, general knowledge in other databases
- A general understanding of .NET technology and application architecture
- Good understanding of Share point portal technology and configuration
- Fundamental knowledge of VMware systems and administration
- Excellent communication, writing and editing skills
- High level of proficiency with MS Office and related software
- Excellent problem-solving, technical and analytical skills
