The marketing savvy 'don't sell to me' younger generation may be more receptive to branded content than you may think. When Synovate asked over 12,000 young adults ages 18 to 24 about their interaction with brands over the last month, 28% said they’d talked about a brand on a discussion forum, 23% had added brand-related content to their instant messenger service, and almost one in five had added branded content to their homepage or social networking site. Add up the 2.5 leisure hours they’re spending on the Internet every day and you’ll see the vast opportunity brands have to connect with them. But this doesn’t mean young adults go looking for it. At the end of the day the brand must be relevant to them (Being 'cool' always helps too).
