Team Synovate Motoresearch – market intelligence world champions
Synovate is the world's most curious company. We're passionately inquisitive about why things are the way they are. And why people act the way they do.
The Synovate Motoresearch team is lead by a group of market research innovators who love cars.
Scott Miller – Global CEO, Synovate Motoresearch
Having spent three years on the market survey and facility design teams at General Motors' Saturn Corporation, Scott joined Motoresearch in 1991, where he was Vice President and partner, and became a member of the Synovate family when Aegis acquired Motoresearch in 2000. He managed the international operations for Market Facts Motoresearch until 2003, when he was appointed CEO of the global Motoresearch practice.
In addition to his responsibilities of leading the organisation, Scott remains heavily involved in several major accounts. As one of the industry's leading experts in consumer attitudes toward advanced propulsion, he is also active in all of Synovate's research and consulting projects that focus on hybrid, fuel cell and advanced diesel technologies.
He has been responsible for managing research conducted in more than 30 countries across five continents, with 15 years of extensive experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative automotive market research in Spanish and Portuguese languages. He has also published and presented two papers at ESOMAR.
Gavin Winter – Global Director Americas
Gavin Winter leads Synovate Motoresearch's global efforts in continuous research, specialising in customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Gavin boasts 25 years of experience in the auto industry from both the client and agency side of the business.
Having held numerous operational and retail roles for major premium brand OEM, Gavin then moved to an agency, recently heading up one of the largest automotive research practices in Europe, based in the UK and Germany.
Building on experience gained in traditional market applications for customer satisfaction research, Gavin is now driving Synovate Motoresearch's efforts to challenge existing business models in terms of both design and operational delivery.
Working with Synovate Loyalty, Gavin can also leverage experience leading major developments in clients' customer research involving both the emotional and rational sides of the transactional relationship with dealers.
Gavin's operational expertise also brings a natural focus to the use of research to change and improve brand and dealer performance.
As a driver, Gavin's dream car would be a Caterham 7 (living out his fantasy to be Patrick McGoohan from The Prisoner), and he currently drives a Nissan Murano SUV crossover.
Andrew Grant – Global Director Europe, Middle East and Africa
Andrew started his career in advertising research, working on the Ford account among others. He joined Jaguar Cars in 1989 in research and moved from there to the US in 1994 with spells in engineering research, North American Marketing Research and as Jaguar Global Research Manager. He returned to Europe to head up research for Ford Europe in 1997.
In 2001, he returned to the agency environment to establish the European Motoresearch operation.
In his occasional spare time he enjoys spending time on the smallholding he and his wife own in Suffolk. Pride of place goes to a 1961 Massey Ferguson 35 tractor. On the open road, he drives a 10 year old long wheelbase Land Rover Defender.
Jon O'Loughlin – Global Director based in Singapore for the Asia Pacific region
Jon has spent some 21 years in research, the last 14 of which have been dedicated to the automotive sector. Jon joined Motoresearch in June 2003 and during the last 3 years has overseen tremendous growth in the automotive business in Asia Pacific. (The region now accounts for around 30% of global Motoresearch revenues.)
Jon has conducted research across the globe, including the first ever dynamic drive appraisal in Saudi Arabia. And although his expertise covers all types of research, he's in overdrive when it comes product development, branding, pricing and quality research.
Jon's perfect car would be an Aston Martin (any will do...!!), but with Singapore being the most expensive country in the world to own a car, a more pragmatic solution in the form of a Ford Galaxy is the regular cart horse.
