Synovate releases first local media survey results for Hong Kong

HONG KONG — Synovate today released the first Synovate Media Atlas results for Hong Kong, showing large local media consumption across all media in the city.
Synovate Media Atlas is a new service aimed at revealing complete media audiences in an expanding number of countries across Asia.
Steve Garton, Synovate's Media Director for Asia Pacific said that as Asia has grown in wealth, large middle classes and affluent target audiences have emerged.
"These audiences are of great interest to most marketers, who want to choose the right media to communicate with them. This is certainly the case in Hong Kong so Synovate Media Atlas can deliver crucial information to help in these choices," he said.
The first major stage of Media Atlas in Hong Kong has just completed - covering the first quarter of 2006 with a sample size of over 1,500 people aged 15-64 years. The annual sample for 2006 will be 6,000.
"What we are seeing are large audiences across TV, newspapers, magazines, radio and the Internet. Advertisers and media specialists will find vital new information to help plan advertising campaigns, as has happened in Thailand and Malaysia, where we have also introduced this new service," Mr Garton said.
"We have received strong support for the new survey in Hong Kong and we were also delighted to receive industry approval to go ahead with a new service in the Philippines," he said.
The survey uses phone interviews to reach the nine in 10 of Hong Kong residents who live in homes with some form of security barriers.
