Synovate appoints Telford new head of UK business; promotes Shair as MD for Hong Kong

LONDON — International research firm Synovate has today announced that Jill Telford, currently CEO for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, will be moving to London in January 2009 to take up the position of CEO for its UK business.
Current UK head Michelle Norman has started a comprehensive leadership handover that will take place over the next two months. Norman, who has decided to take a break to spend more time with her family, was appointed Managing Director in 2003 and became CEO in 2007. She has led the UK business through a period of significant change, not least of which was the integration of Synovate's various businesses and acquisitions into a cohesive unit. Under her guidance, Synovate outperformed the UK market in revenue growth at a time of intense competition.

Having been Managing Director of Synovate in Hong Kong since 1999, Telford was appointed CEO for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea in 2007. She started her research career in London in 1986, working for a number of agencies before moving to Asia. Telford has lived and worked in Japan and Hong Kong.

As Telford moves to the UK, Hong Kong-based Brendan Shair takes up the position of Managing Director for Hong Kong effective January 1st.
